In
spite of having gained the vote 75 years ago, women are still
under-represented in decision making arenas including politics and
management – especially in planning and transport. SRA have a
special interest in representing the views and needs of women.
A lot
of work in this area is concerned with personal security and the
way it can impact on access to other services, especially public
transport. Research also highlights the distributional impact of
policies such as subsidy to bus services (where the majority of
passengers are women) compared to train services (where the
majority of passengers are men). |
